Camden, NJ - As Camden rises with businesses and development, startups in the city are thinking of how to grow their business and give back to the community. Penji, a design startup looks to provide affordable on-demand designs, saving businesses time and money. To further support the city, they are also adding directly to the workforce pipeline and hiring students in the area. This fast-growing tech startup provide students with marketing and design internships, jobs and client-facing opportunities to add to their portfolio.

Co-Founder Johnathan Grzybowski grew his startup, Waterfront Media, a digital marketing and design agency, from the Camden Co-Lab. After noticing an industry problem amongst customers communicating with creative teams, he knew there was a better way to streamline the process to save businesses (both client and service providers) time and money. Grzybowski partnered with Waterfront Ventures CEO, Khai Tran, to create the solution and accelerate Camden’s success. Together they launched Penji to focus solely on providing high-quality designs to help service startups, small businesses, and agencies with design services to grow their business at a flat monthly rate.

Penji allows customers to submit and manage multiple design projects online, pinpoint exactly where to make the changes and serves as a great communication tool for customers and designers. As a designer himself, Tran understands the problems for both the designers and customers. “We’re disrupting a major source of pain for most small businesses and startups. Professional designs do not need to be expensive or time-consuming, not with Penji at least.” Tran built Penji as a tool for startups, small businesses, and agencies looking for an alternative to hiring an in-house designer and needs dependable and affordable designs.

Penji allows customers to submit and manage multiple design projects online, pinpoint exactly where to make the changes and serves as a great communication tool for customers and designers. "It's critical for business owners to spend more time on their business and less time on the creation of marketing materials. We look to solve this ongoing problem of a business owner creating their own branding materials with an easy to use software and low-cost solution for entrepreneurs," said Grzybowski.

Being a part of Tran’s Waterfront Ventures, Camden’s economic development organization furthered Grzybowski’s interest in reinvesting in the city’s future workforce. “We see this as an opportunity to be a greater part of the innovation and renaissance in Camden.”  Grzybowski continues, “Not only can we support the startup and business community with Penji, we can provide educational opportunities and employ students in our area. Penji will join Waterfront Ventures and other leaders in the city to help Camden rise.”  Penji has open internships for marketing and design interns as they reach their goal of 200 clients by the end of the year.
