Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University follow at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The University of California-Berkeley takes the fourth spot, and the U.K.’s University of Oxford finishes out the top five.
The publication released the rankings of 1,250 universities around the world Tuesday and used 13 ranking factors and focused on institutions' research performance. The rankings were calculated using indicators that measure global and regional reputation and bibliometric indicators measuring academic research performance, such as citations and publications.
