Summit, NJ - Carlos Abad, founder of LaunchNJ, offers some summer reading and shares his “why” for starting the nonprofit dedicated to accelerating the entrepreneurial ecosystem in NJ. Hoping to keep New Jersey Entrepreneurs in New Jersey, Carlos Abad and LaunchNJ have grown, but there is still much to do. Newark, NJ - Acting Governor Kim Guadagno joined local officials and members of Newark’s business community to announce the launch of Newark Venture Partners (NVP), a new $50 million early-stage social impact venture fund, the first of its kind in the New York metropolitan area.
Ewing, NJ - Until recently, all Mehak Aswani, Pauleena Pal, and Sheenal Parikh had to show for their future restaurant, Tikka Roll, was an Excel file full of projected sales figures and long list of needs, including a fridge, a sink, and a fryer. But after winning first prize in the 2015 Mayo Business Plan Competition on April 8, the three seniors have $22,000 to put toward making the restaurant a reality.
Trenton, NJ - An altered and diminished labor market has driven many people – from recent college graduates to retirees – to form their own high-tech startup companies, and their efforts have been facilitated by a robust Internet era, which features easy access to relevant information, as well as smooth communications with colleagues and other experts.
Trenton, NJ – In a press conference this week, the New Jersey Senate Republican leadership released a 36 bill package to improve the state of innovation, the strengthen the workforce and grow the economy. The bills seek to usher in growth through policies pertaining to science and technology, STEM education, improving the state’s existing economic development practices, regulation reductions as well as agriculture enhancements without adding additional costs to the budget.
Woodbridge, NJ - Michael Diamond covered a great article regarding the high tech start up scene in New Jersey. "How does New Jersey ensure a fair share of that innovation happens here? Investor John Ason, a Westfield resident, said it isn't easy. New Jersey doesn't have a central hub like New York City that attracts investors, entrepreneurs and talented investors in a tight-knit cluster. But he networked at the New Jersey Technology Council event, keeping his eyes open."
Montclair, NJ – Yewande Adebayo, founder of Bella Works, Iram Ganju, president and CEO of IKG Global Consultants, Zora Kassaii, CEO and president of Rush Graphics Inc. and Jatinder Singh, owner of Account Vision will be sharing their struggles as women entrepreneurs who grew up in a foreign country in a panel discussion at the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship of Montclair State University on March 30th.
