The challenge for presenters on Tuesday: make their case in two minutes.
Two minutes goes by fast. Newman took a personal approach.
He said he started his company a year ago, and he saw a chance to help students augment their classroom lessons. He and his wife, Shara, worked on a technology that provided a 360-degree view on a mobile device of what they were studying.
He waved a note, written on black paper, that one of his students wrote him on graduation day, thanking him for the help he gave her.
"I don't want to see our society fall through the cracks," Newman said. "Would love to talk to whoever's interested in finding out more. Thank you very much."
