Governor Kim Guadagno today announced the kick-off of the Million Women Mentors (MWM) initiative in New Jersey, which seeks to recruit at least 6,000 mentors for young women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by 2018.

New Jersey’s inaugural STEM Week comes in recognition of the fact that STEM is uniquely important to this state: New Jersey is home to the best STEM public high school in the country, it has the highest concentration of scientific professionals in the nation, and is the site of government research facilities that are the envy of the world.
Linden, NJ - Public school teachers from Linden and Rahway are working developing curriculum for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The instructors from the area are part of a consortium of teachers who have formed a professional learning community to study "A Framework for K-12 Science Education."
