Mr. Berman began his career as Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Bob Franks and served in a variety of senior staff positions in the New Jersey General Assembly Republican Office, including Director of Policy & Planning, Director of Intergovernmental Relations, Director of the Office of the Speaker and Deputy Executive Director. He also managed the Assembly Policy & Rules Committee and Assembly Education Committee.
In 1990, Mr. Berman managed the successful campaign for re-election of Congressman Dean Gallo, and in 1991, he served on the staff of the New Jersey Republican State Committee, producing the first grassroots party convention in modern New Jersey political history.
From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Berman served as Vice President of Capital Public Affairs, one of New Jersey’s leading government relations firms.
He sits on the Board of ENGAGE NJ, and served as a Trustee of the NJ Society of Economic, Environmental Development (NJSEED), Trustee of the NJ Policy Research Organization (NJPRO), member of the External Advisory Board of the Rutgers Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health, and member of the Monmouth University Board of Trustees Government Relations Committee.
