- Encouraging bold leadership decisions
- Understanding critical issues in intersectionality
- Addressing challenges associated with severely underrepresented groups
- Recognizing and rewarding leadership in broadening participation and diversity by creating new awards;
- Valuing risk-taking as a part of leadership through training proposal reviews and program officers;
- Encouraging leadership in directing long-term changes in mindset by requiring sustainability plans for program accountability;
- Transforming leadership across institutions by funding the development of infrastructure to support broadening participation; and,
- Building awareness of leadership examples supporting diversity and inclusion by highlighting effective leadership models.
