Trenton, NJ - From June 15 to June 18, New Jersey’s life sciences prowess will be on display at the Bio International Convention in Philadelphia, the international industry event that will feature more and more than 300 academic institutions, including major research labs, and government agencies. New Brunswick, NJ - Rutgers researchers along with other researcher from other universities have developed a model that explains how heat flows between objects separated by gaps of less than a nanometer. The team has developed a unified framework that calculates heat transport at finite gaps, and has shown that heat flow at sub-nanometer distances occurs not via radiation or conduction, but through "phonon tunneling."
New Brunswick, NJ - Rutgers will take the lead in a three-year study that will investigate the effectiveness of federal and state initiatives to address overprescribing of antipsychotic medications for dementia patients in nursing homes. According to Beth Salamon of MedWxpress, "Stephen Crystal, Board of Governors professor and associate director for Health Services Research at Rutgers' Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research, is the principal investigator for the study, "Improving Medication Safety in Nursing Home Dementia Care." Crystal will work with regulators, patient advocates and other groups to track the progress of medication safety in each state."
