Stevens Ocean Researchers Selected to Serve on NYC Panel on Climate Change

Hoboken, NJ – Stevens Institute of Technology researchers and ocean physicists Dr. Alan Blumberg and Dr. Philip Orton have been selected to join the Third New York City Panel on Climate Change (NPCC3) to advise New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the administration’s climate policy leadership on climate change projections and adaptation. The kickoff meeting for the panel was held today at New York City’s City Hall.

Tour the Cutting Edge of Resiliency and Sustainability Built By Stevens’ Students

Hoboken, NJ - Ribbon cutting and open house for SURE HOUSE, an environmentally sustainable, resilient house for coastal communities – one that could better withstand a storm the size of Hurricane Sandy. The SURE House will serve as Stevens’ entry into the Solar Decathlon, a biennial competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy which challenges teams from the world’s most prestigious institutions to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. Following the Open House, the home will be transported to California for the actual Solar Decathlon competition (October 8-18).

Stevens receives $250K grant from PSEG Foundation

Hoboken, NJ - According to Andrew Sheldon of NJBiz, "Stevens Institute of Technology has received a $250,000 grant from the PSEG Foundation to be put toward the completion of the university's SURE HOUSE, which is the school's entry into the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon competition. The SUstainable and REsilient HOUSE represents the school’s vision of a sustainable and resilient home for the areas at greatest risk during extreme weather.

Hoboken, NJ - A new STEM program will be available to youngsters enrolled in 10 New Jersey Boys & Girls Clubs, through $82,461 in funding contributed by Walmart. NJ Universities do well on PayScale ROI report

Hoboken, NJ - No matter how you look at it, college is an investment of both time and money. Payscale has posted their annual  College ROI Report, which covers "Best Value Colleges," "Majors & Careers" and "States & Categories." Once again the Stevens Institute of Technology makes the top ten of all colleges and universities, but ranked an unprecedented third place. Up from fifth for the past years, Stevens in Hoboken was calculated with a 20-year ROI of $841,000.

New Jersey ranks 6th in college completion

Trenton, NJ - According to a recent report by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, public colleges in New Jersey are among the highest graduation rates in the country. The report found more than 70 percent of students that start at public four-year schools will complete it within six years at a New Jersey institution, compared to the 62.85 percent national average.

According to a new report by the Business Insider, New Jersey has several underrated college in America with the New Jersey Institute of Technology at the top. These claims come their PayScale College Salary Report, which ranks colleges and universities based on their graduates’ mid-career earnings.
