NJ’s Small Business Development Center Network’s Success Award Winners Are Fast Growing Companies in NJ

Trenton, NJ - Two small business clients of America’s SBDC New Jersey, president and CEO Brian A. Leuthner of Edge Therapeutics, Inc. and founder and CEO Dr. Pankaj Mohan of Oncobiologics Inc., were named finalists in the Ernst Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2015) New Jersey. Leuthner of Edge Therapeutics advanced to be one of several winners of this prestigious award. The award program is co-sponsored by The Kauffman Foundation.

SBA Releases 2015 Regional Innovation Clusters Solicitation

Washington D.C. - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) released a combined synopsis/solicitation with the intention of awarding up to three contracts for entities to head regional innovation cluster initiatives. SBA intends to make three awards including one to an entity that will provide cluster initiative services to a community affected by changes in the coal economy.

SBA Announces Revamped Website and SBIR Logo Competition

Washington D.C. - The Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Maria Contreras-Sweet announced during National Small Business Week 2015 that the SBA is crowdsourcing the official logo for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs, “America’s Seed Fund” and has made major improvements to the www.sbir.gov website.

SEC releases new rules and expands the viability of crowdfunding

Washington D.C. - Crowdfunding is becoming more and more popular for small businesses because it allows them to raise capital directly from many individuals via the internet.  As of last week, the Securities and Exchange Commission adopted final rules to facilitate smaller companies’ access to capital through Title IV of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act.

SEC announces equity crowdfunding rules

Washington D.C. - According to the State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI), "The Securities and Exchange Commission adopted final rules to update and expand Regulation A, an existing exemption from registration for smaller issuers of securities.  The new Regulation A+ will enable smaller companies to offer and sell up to $50 million of securities in a 12-month period, subject to eligibility, disclosure and reporting requirements."

Experts will discuss emerging and potentially damaging cyber crimes, which industries are most at risk, and solutions for concerned business owners at The College of New Jersey, Ewing Township, NJ on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.  There is no fee for attendance and breakfast and lunch will be included.”
