A new Rutgers study may lead to better treatment of systolic heart failure, one of the most common cardiac disorders in which the ability to pump blood becomes restricted and whose risks increase with age. Trenton, NJ - According to Tome Bergeron, "Macrocure, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in Israel, appears to be closer to moving its headquarters to New Jersey. The Economic Development Authority awarded Grow NJ tax credits for up to $3.2 million over 10 years for Macrocure to establish its North American headquarters at the EDA’s Technology Centre of New Jersey in North Brunswick. The EDA previously had approved a 10-year, three-month lease at the Centre.

Morris Plains, NJ - Immunomedics, Inc. today announced that the Office of Orphan Products Development of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted orphan status for the use of veltuzumab, the Company’s humanized anti-CD20 antibody, for the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). In a Phase 1 study,1 low-dose veltuzumab, as a single agent, produced an objective response rate of 55 percemt in 38 response-assessable patients with relapsed ITP, including 11 patients (29 percent) who reported a complete response.
