Trenton, NJ - According to Andrew Sheldon of NJBiz, "The New Jersey Technology Council held its first Tech Day on Wednesday at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. The daylong event featured a conference on commercialization in the morning, a midday incubator showcase and a scheduled afternoon “data summit,” which focuses on monetizing and securing big data. The scope of the event was meant to convey the diversity of the technology industry in New Jersey, according to NJTC CEO James Barrood.
“That’s what this event is about: sharing best practices, learning from one another (and) collaborating to succeed,” he said. “If we can bring our friends and our members from throughout the region to share what’s working, what’s not working and what we need to do and what we need to do to make our ecosystem so much better, that’s so incredibly important.”
Christopher Molloy, senior vice president of research and economic development at Rutgers University, echoed Barrood’s sentiments by expressing Rutgers’ shared commitment to those goals.
“As the large state university of New Jersey, Rutgers feels it’s extremely important to play a role in helping to foster industry, economic development and relationships among our alums, our scientists and faculty and among our students,” he said. “We’re really, now, sized and positioned in the state to be able to do that.
Rounding out the year with its first Tech Day, the NJTC will continue to host events to pursue these goals in 2016, starting first with its Innovation Forecast event Feb. 11.
