Newark, NJ ― And then there were 13, reports Patrick Villanova in The Star-Ledger. The Jersey City Medical Center/Barnabas Health STEM Showcase has been whittled down to a field of 13 young scientists vying for two spots at a national science and engineering fair this spring.
The Hudson County high school students were awarded gold medals after presenting their projects at the showcase -- which for decades was known as The Jersey Journal Hudson County Science Fair -- on Monday. Approximately 300 local students in grades 5 through 12 participated in the event at LSC.
The gold medalists will now present their projects during a round of "super judging" tomorrow at Liberty Science Center from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Out of super judging, two finalists will be chosen will represent the Jersey City Medical Center/Barnabas Health STEM Showcase at the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair this spring in Phoenix. Younger finalists will also be chosen to advance to the Broadcom Masters competition in Washington, D.C.
