Trenton, NJ - Named for Dr. Sol J. Barer, Founder and former Chairman and CEO of Celgene Corporation, the Dr. Sol J. Barer Award for Vision, Innovation and Leadership recognizes outstanding research and business leaders who have made significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of the life sciences industry in New Jersey and throughout the world.
BioNJ is thrilled to announce that we will honor Andrew L. Pecora, M.D., FACP CPE, President, Physician Enterprise and Chief Innovations Officer at Hackensack Meridian Health, as the 2018 Dr. Sol J. Barer Award for Vision, Innovation and Leadership recipient. Recognized internationally as one of the world's foremost experts in blood and marrow stem cell transplantation, cellular medicine and immunology research, Dr. Pecora has transformed the cancer program at Hackensack University Medical Center into one of the nation's top cancer centers. A serial entrepreneur, he also co-founded and was on the board of PCT Caladrius, L.L.C., a company focused on development, manufacturing and delivery of cell-based therapies. Additionally, Dr. Pecora founded and serves as Executive Chairman of COTA, a healthcare software analytics company focused on enabling value-based care delivery, and was instrumental in the creation and expansion of Regional Cancer Care Associates, one of the largest oncology physician networks in the country.

Having been quoted as saying, "It's all about taking New Jersey to the next level," Dr. Pecora played a leadership role in creating Hackensack Meridian Health's establishment of a $25 million investment fund and innovation and incubator, as well as working with Celgene Corporation to establish the Multiple Myeloma Institute, a leading-edge research facility at the Seton Hall-Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine scheduled to open in 2018.

"Given his innovative and groundbreaking work over many, many years, a demonstrated and strong commitment to growing the life sciences ecosystem in New Jersey and an unbridled passion for patients, Dr. Pecora is uber deserving of this award," said BioNJ President and CEO Debbie Hart. "We are delighted to honor this kind and humble man in this way."

Please join us on Thursday, February 1, at the Hilton East Brunswick, for BioNJ's Annual Dinner Meeting & Innovation Celebration where we will honor Dr. Pecora. Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our first Annual Meeting, we have an exciting evening planned, including a Keynote presentation, the Innovator Awards and plenty of networking over a cocktail reception, dinner and dessert reception!
