Madison, NJ — Fairleigh Dickinson University’s new center for innovation and project based learning was dedicated in the memory of Ronald J. Doerfler BS'62, MBA'72 (Metro), who, together with his wife Krys, made a generous gift to make its construction possible.
The center is located in the Monninger Center at the Florham Campus in Madison.
Doerfler, who served on the University’s Board of Trustees, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and then a MBA from the University.

Doerfler joined Capital Cities Communications in 1969 as an assistant controller, eventually becoming senior vice president and chief financial officer. There he played a major role in the firm’s acquisition of ABC and the merger with The Walt Disney Company.
Doerfler joined the Hearst Corporation in 1998 as vice president and chief financial officer. He was elected senior vice president in 2000 and, in 2002, elected to the Board of Directors.
In 2007, he received FDU’s Charter Day Award after being inducted into the PINNACLE Society in 1991.
Mr. Doerfler passed away in 2013, and FDU created a scholarship in his name.
