Jersey City, NJ - The East Coast Industry Forum, organized by the German American Chambers of Commerce (GACC) in strong collaboration with NJBIA, takes place October 28 at the Mac Mahon Student Center at St. Peter's University in Jersey City. The Forum will be a great opportunity to gain insight into the transatlantic marketplace, and to reach out to German and US businesses. Topics such as smart manufacturing, IoT, the STEM skills shortage, talent retention as well as an outlook on US energy policy will be discussed by C-level executives from both sides of the Atlantic.
Germany is New Jersey's fifth-largest foreign employer, creating about 25,000 jobs in the Garden State. Trade between the state of New Jersey and Germany amounted to $7,087 Mio in imports (in 2013), focused on transportation equipment and chemicals. Exports to Germany are heavily concentrated on chemicals as well as computer and other electronic products, roughly exceeding $1,233 Mio (2013).

New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno will give the opening keynote address, and Steven Fulop, Mayor of Jersey City will open the afternoon networking reception.

With 7 offices and 2,500 member companies in the United States and Germany, the GACC provides a truly transatlantic platform for building business relationships and international networks.

About
More than 1,500 German companies chose to locate in the North Eastern United States – a vibrant region for business and transatlantic trade which generates over 23 percent of GDP. The East Coast German American Industry Forum offers a perfect platform to connect with potential business partners and peers, gain unique perspectives on current business topics and gather valuable insights into economical and industry trends.

The all-day conference features keynote speeches, panel discussions and in-depth workshops addressing a wide range of issues affecting companies doing business in the U.S. and in a transatlantic context.

In particular, German Mittelstand companies, as well as U.S. SMEs are being credited as the key drivers for economic growth, innovation and employment creation. The Mittelstand/SMEs stand for high-value manufactured products which occupy many worldwide niche markets and leadership positions in numerous B2B segments.

Attending the German American Industry Forum is a must for company representatives engaged in cross-border business and in positioning their respective companies on both sides of the Atlantic for growth and success. 200-250 representatives of German and American businesses located throughout the North East are expected to attend.
