Newark, NJ ― The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has made the charts once again in recently published rankings. The Feb. 9 NJBIZ article; “What are the 10 N.J. colleges with the highest-paid graduates?” ranked NJIT first among four-year public colleges and universities and third overall statewide behind Stevens Institute of Technology and Princeton University.
The listings were generated by Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce based on the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard. The same study was used by NJ Advance Media for “20 N.J. Colleges with the Highest-Paid Grads.”
Another analysis, based on degrees conferred during the 2013-14 academic year, looks at “The Top Producers of African-American Graduates.” The Feb. 11 article inDiverse: Issues in Higher Educationranked NJIT fifth in the nation for African-American Engineering M.S. degrees and 20th for African-American Engineering B.S. degrees.

These rankings are based on research conducted by Victor M.H. Borden, a professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Indiana University Bloomington and Rhonda V. Sharpe, visiting associate professor of economics at Bucknell University.
Last year, Business Insider ranked NJIT #1 on its list of “The 50 Most Underrated Colleges in America.” The magazine called NJIT “a leader in job placement,” noting that at least 56 percent of NJIT students already are employed by the time they graduate — a figure 26 percent higher than the national average. Another 13 percent are enrolled full time in graduate school after graduation, the magazine reported.
NJIT also ranks well in a number of other national surveys where the university is among the top 200 U.S. colleges or higher including: US News & World Report, the Brookings Institution, Forbes, Money, Washington Monthly, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, PayScale.com and BestColleges.com.
