"Barbara's advocacy experience and educational background make her an excellent choice for accomplishing our goal of working with a new administration in Trenton to make public higher education a top priority for our state," said AJ Sabath, chairman of the board of NJASCU.
"The NJASCU trustees and presidents have complete confidence in her to take the reins of the organization. Key legislators and staff know and trust her, and they have come to rely on her expertise in such critical issues as financial aid, contracting, and Title IX. Barb is our perfect spokesperson to articulate on how investment in higher education provides the opportunity for New Jersey's residents to achieve their dreams, while also providing academic, cultural, and economic benefits to all New Jerseyans," Mr. Sabath said.
"Speaking on behalf of the entire NJASCU Board, we have enjoyed tremendously working with Mike during his six years as executive director and 13 years as director of Legal and Government Affairs," Chairman Sabath said. "We are sad to see him go, but very pleased he will be working at a job for which he is so well suited as someone who is a preeminent higher education scholar with invaluable practical experience."
