Karen Ekshian, a New Jersey Institute of Technology graduate from 2012 and a senior designer at Marvel Architects, will receive the 2018 NJIT GeNEXT Young Alumni Award on May 19.
The NJIT Alumni Association honors graduates who have achieved success professionally while also giving generously to the community and to their alma mater. Ekshian is interested in sustainable architecture that allows a structure to adapt to changes over time, fulfilling a current need in an environmentally thoughtful manner.

- Jerome Gallagher, Jr. class of 1980, attorney with Norris McLaughlin Marcus P.A.;
- Patrick Natale, classes of 1970 and 1975, Vice President of Business Strategies at Mott MacDonald Inc.
Andrew Sohn, an associate professor in the Ying Wu College of Computing, was selected by NJIT alumni to receive the 2018 Robert W. Van Houten Award for Teaching Excellence, which reflects the highest level of success in leading students to knowledge and understanding.
