Washington D.C. – New Jersey Congressional Representative Leonard Lance has been named a National Association of Manufacturers’ Champion of Manufacturing for his work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and for his job-creating policies to rebuild the U.S. manufacturing industry.
The Manufacturing Legislative Excellence Award was presented to Lance in a ceremony held in New Providence, New Jersey, at C. R. Bard Inc. NAM selected Lance for the award for his votes in Congress and support for the estimated 18.6 million manufacturing jobs in the United States.
“Congressman Lance is a champion of the medical technology industry,” Bard’s chairman and CEO Timothy Ring said. “From lower taxes to streamlined regulations, New Jersey appreciates Congressman Lance’s work to advance policies that create jobs and promote innovation here in our state and around the country.”
Policies on taxes, energy and trade have made it 20 percent more expensive to do business in the United States, according to NAM, which specifically cited Lance for voting to lower the corporate tax rate.
“Lowering tax rates to compete globally, easing the burdens of regulations, leveraging American-made energy and providing economic incentives to start new projects all will facilitate the type of manufacturing backbone our economy needs,” Lance said. “Companies like Bard need to innovate and grow. Part of my work in Congress is to ensure they have the tools to do so.”
