New FederalLabs.org Site Offers Improved Tools and Services to Help Businesses Work with Federal Laboratories

Washington, DC ― The Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) has officially launched its newly redesigned website, federallabs.org.  The site houses a wealth of federal resources that businesses can leverage to further develop their technologies or license available federal technologies through the process called technology transfer (T2).

As a network of over 300 federal laboratories, the FLC’s mission is to promote, educate and facilitate T2 among its members and industry so they can easily reach their commercialization goals to create a social and economic impact with new, innovative technologies.

The new website features a modern, clean aesthetic and serves as a gateway for businesses and T2 professionals to understand how the T2 process works, search thousands of accessible federal laboratory resources such as technologies and facilities, and engage with laboratory professionals to grow their business.
“The FLC redesigned its website with the goal of making technology transfer accessible,” said Paul Zielinski, FLC Chair. “The importance of technology transfer is underscored by success stories such as GPS and Gardasil®, and the new website offers a knowledge base that we’re confident will lead to even more important innovations reaching the market.”

Among the new site features that advance the organization’s mission are a robust, searchable success stories library, interactive map and FLC awards gallery; a T2 Toolkit; and an FLC Learning Center that provides a wealth of on-demand educational training and references.

One of the major access points to our federal laboratories is through the FLC site’s comprehensive T2 Toolkit. The Toolkit provides a wide range of quick search data and services that both its members and business professionals can utilize to find the latest available federal technologies, sample partnership or licensing agreements, and cutting-edge facilities and equipment that are accessible for use.

Another key enhancement to the site is the FLC’s recently produced video, “What Is T2?” The video highlights well-known examples of successfully commercialized federal technologies and explains how entrepreneurs can easily work with a lab to utilize federal resources through the T2 process.

The site also houses a new FLC forum that allows business representatives to view available partnership opportunities with federal labs, or to pose questions and receive guidance from seasoned T2 professionals about the commercialization process.

Through its tools, services and educational resources, the FLC site serves as a great tool and entry point for anyone seeking information about our federal laboratory system or hoping to further their business by working with the government.
