In a statement on December 2, Chairman-Designate Frelinghuysen said:
“I want to offer my thanks to the House Leadership and the Republican Steering Committee for allowing me to Chair the House Committee on Appropriations.
“Next year, we have a unique opportunity to transform the size, scope and direction of government and the Appropriations Committee will be key to that effort!
“We will exercise rigorous oversight in order to make every dollar count.
“My commitment to every Member is to restore our role under the Constitution’s Article One, Section 9 – power of the purse – and to put Members back in charge of funding decisions.
“I am ready to get to work!”
The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) extended its congratulations to New Jersey Congressman Rodney P. Frelinghuysen (R-11) on his election as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
“This is an exciting and historic opportunity for New Jersey to have one of our own federal legislators be recognized in such a prominent way for his longstanding commitment to America’s critical priorities,” Paranicas continued. “Mr. Frelinghuysen’s tenure as Appropriations Chairman will undoubtedly benefit our country greatly. We wish him much success and look forward to working with him in his new role.”
