Newark, NJ — The New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), an NJIT corporation that applies the intellectual and technological resources of the state’s science and technology university to challenges identified by industry partners, has announced the appointment of Todd Tangert as Director and Associate Head of NJII’s, Defense and Homeland Security Innovation Laboratory (iLab).
In this role, Tangert will serve to enhance and expand the role of the iLab by working with companies and government agencies to develop, design, and deploy vetted solutions for field applications.
Before assuming his new role, Tangert served in a variety of positions with Lockheed Martin Corp.
Tangert spent his career working on various aspects of complex systems (design, test, integration and fielding) and served in numerous leadership roles.
Tangert ran several engineering organizations, led numerous projects and had strategic responsibilities in R&D and talent development.
In this role, Tangert will serve to enhance and expand the role of the iLab by working with companies and government agencies to develop, design, and deploy vetted solutions for field applications.

Tangert received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
