Princeton, NJ — NRG Energy, the leading integrated power company in the U.S, has joined Princeton E-ffiliates Partnership, an initiative that forges research collaborations between practitioners outside academia and experts across Princeton University to pursue transformational innovations in the fields of energy and the environment.

The company, whose retail electricity providers serve almost 3 million residential and commercial customers throughout the country, is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey and Houston, Texas.

“Providing sustainable energy to the world’s growing population is an ambitious task. This requires connections and constant dialogue between industry, government, non-governmental organizations, and academia,” said Mark Zondlo, associate director for external partnerships at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University and associate professor of civil and environmental engineering.
“NRG Energy becoming a member of E-ffiliates is emblematic of that vital dialogue and helps us meet our mission in making a better energy and environmental future for all.”

“NRG’s mission is to create a sustainable energy future so this relationship with Princeton E-ffiliates Parternship is synergistic,” said Jennifer Brunelle, director of positiveNRG, NRG Energy’s community-engagement team.

“Having such an academic powerhouse within a stone’s throw of our corporate headquarters is a huge benefit to NRG from a talent perspective, but even more significant is the impact our collaborative innovation can make on the energy industry and environment for years to come.”

Founded in 2011 as an initiative of the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Enviornment, Princeton E-ffiliates Partnership fosters research collaboration, works to swiftly move high-impact research from lab to market, and facilitates technology transfer between Princeton and its members.

Other E-ffiliates members include ExxonMobil, PSEG, and Power Survey Company.
