Mount Laurel, NJ ― Rowan College at Burlington County named Dr. Edem G. Tetteh, an experienced higher education leader as the first dean of the newly named division of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Tetteh currently serves as interim dean of Academic Affairs of Potomac State College of West Virginia University, has classroom experience, and has written several books and journals on manufacturing and engineering.
“STEM fields are growing and represent critical in-demand career paths for Rowan College at Burlington County and our Rowan University partnership,” said RCBC President Paul Drayton. “Dr. Tetteh’s leadership, educational and engineering experience make him an ideal selection to lead this division at such an important juncture for our college.”
The division was recently renamed STEM to better reflect the breadth of the college’s offerings and alignment with Rowan University’s high-quality engineering programs.

The university’s Mechanical Engineering program was ranked in the top 10 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The university will bring this program to RCBC’s Mount Laurel campus in fall 2017 with a certificate program in manufacturing.

Prior to Potomac State College of West Virginia University, Dr. Tetteh served as assistant vice president for Academic Affairs at Paine College, assistant professor of Industrial and Logistics Technology and acting graduate program coordinator for the Career and Technical Studies at Virginia State University; and associate director of operations at North Carolina A&T State University.
He has taught as visiting faculty of industrial technology at Purdue University-Richmond campus. He has also worked as a power engineer for T.E. Neal Plant in Greensboro, NC.
He has a doctorate in Technology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana; a master’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a bachelor’s degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Manufacturing Systems from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
“Dr. Tetteh has the perfect blend of academic achievement, classroom instruction, higher education leadership and private sector experience that will serve our students and faculty well,” said RCBC Senior Vice President and Provost Dr. David Spang. “STEM fields lead to the future and our STEM programs have a bright future with Dr. Tetteh’s leadership.”
Dr. Tetteh led international education efforts, developed external partnerships with businesses, designed a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program and is a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He is a retired Navy Reservist.
