Somerset, NJ ― Andrew Sheldon reports in NJBIZ that U.S. News & World Report has released its 2016 rankings for the best online graduate programs. While only one program based in New Jersey cracked the general Top 100 list, other institutions were recognized for their various, specific programs.
According to U.S News & World Report, the rankings — and this is the fifth such annual report — are intended primarily for “working adults who may not have the flexibility to leave the workforce to take classes during the day but still wish to obtain commensurate education, skills and credentials to boost their career.”

At No. 92, Berkeley College is the only school in the state to be included in the Top 100 portion of the list. The college began offering online classes in 1998 and online degrees in 2003.
Rutgers, meanwhile, was recognized for its online business MBA. The university appeared on that list in a tie with Quinnipiac University at No. 14.
Several programs offered by Stevens Institute of Technology also were recognized. Its online graduate program in information technology is ranked 10th by the publication, and online graduate business programs came in at No. 33. In addition, the magazine ranked the online graduate engineering program at No. 38 while the online MBA program ranked 88th.
