Trenton, NJ — NJBIZ reports that the state rankings are in. And for all the jokes — and all the problems with taxes and pensions and infrastructure — New Jersey did quite well.
In the first U.S. News & World Report ranking of the 50 U.S. states, released Tuesday morning, New Jersey came in at No. 14 overall. Even better, it ranked higher than New York (No. 17), Delaware (20) and Pennsylvania (30).
The states were judged on seven categories: Health care, education, crime and corrections, infrastructure, opportunity, economy and government.
With the exception of government, where New Jersey ranked dead last, at No. 50, the state fared very well.
