HELP Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee) said Tuesday that members will vote separately on bills ranging from neurological diseases research to electronic medical records.
Chairman Alexander announced that the HELP Committee will hold its first executive session considering bills on biomedical innovation on Tuesday, February 9. At that committee meeting, the committee will consider at least seven bipartisan bills.
The committee’s February meeting will be the first of three. The two meetings held in March and April will consider additional bipartisan bills.
Ferris reported that the Senate committee’s bills—which will include both President Obama’s “precision medicine” initiative as well as Vice President Biden’s cancer-research “moonshot” bid—are likely to draw controversy from at least some Republicans.
